looks and lack of creature comforts
Mahindra Renault logan is an unassuming car which has the looks of a car that have been designed 10 years ago but don't let that make your judgment because it has the sophistication of Renault and the reliability of Mahindra and that my friends says a lot!! This car is built to last. Once you get up close and personal you immediately get the impression that it indestructible. The body is strong giving you the confidence to "take it on" on the road. The boot space is the best in its class. Inside you feel the lack of plush creature comfort at once. This car was designed to make you travel from point A to point B safely and soundly without discomfort no matter how far the distance between the two points are. The steering is nothing exceptional but gets the job done without the hassle.
The suspension is above average and the paint job good. The pick up and performance is great with the gear ratios settings in such a way to avoid maximum gear changes in the city. Mileage is terrific and will more than make it up to you for your disappointment with its looks. Reading all this makes you realize that Logan is indeed a good car but the clincher is the price. At its present on road price it just doesn't have any competition. While the petrol version may b a little sluggish but the diesel version is a tiger. The current trend of logans replacing the omni as city taxi more than speaks about its worthiness. In one sentence - a sedan at the price of a top end hatchback.
Why it has to cut on basic comforts if it has to be made affordable? It is not just about cost cutting but to differentiate the luxury varieties, a vanity mirror or a left side rear view mirror won't cost a fortune but they are kept out just to enable the car makers to charge more the so so called high-end variants. I can understand leather upholstery or carpets but I won't but that they have to cut the basic amenities like a rear glass defogger in the basic models. It only reflects how a car maker perceives Indian customers. They would be foolish to treat the Indian customers like they used to treat 2 decades ago by offering obsolete models and dated technologies.
