Santa Goes Green: Oberoi Mall unveils new avatar of "Santa and his Cause" this Christmas Season Mumbai , December 16th, 2009: Oberoi Mall, the shopping mall at Goregaon (East), will be hosting its second Christmas carnival, but with an added twist. Titled as "Green Christmas Magic", the carnival has been planned to encompass all the joy and merriment synonymous with Christmas along with highlighting several environmental topics and initiatives. With various concerns about the environment being voiced around the world over the recent years, the Mall Management has taken a proactive step in widening the outlook of its customers. The carnival will run from the 17th of December, 2009 till the 3rd of January, 2010. "Green Christmas Magic" is a part of the Mall's endeavour to encourage its customers to become eco-friendly and to build a happier and healthier planet.

Commenting on the Green Christmas Magic carnival, Mr. Shibu Philips, Business Head, Oberoi Mall said, "Santa Claus has come to town, bringing cheer and joy in a brand new avatar. We, at the Oberoi Mall, have planned Christmas this year with a twist. Our eco-friendly Santa Claus aims to build awareness amongst our customers and to educate children on the importance of becoming environment friendly in an interesting way. This is in line with our social philosophy, where we want to take the scope of awareness to a higher level."

Upon entering, customers will be transported into a Christmas wonderland, complete with Christmas trees, wreaths, Snowmen and candy sticks spread all around. One of the main highlights of this event decoration will be a 15 feet Christmas tree, located in the Mall's central atrium. Miniature candy bars, bells, Christmas stockings, gifts, stars, angels and lights will adorn the Christmas tree. The entire facade will be embellished with special Christmas Lighting, making the entire edifice standout along the Western Express Highway.

The facade of the Mall will be adorned by a 12 feet inflated Green Santa Claus, and huge candy bars along with lights and various other decorations on the canopy. At the main stage inside the Mall, a small green grotto will be built for children. Any customer shopping worth Rs. 2010 & above will be able to visit the grotto and win assured prizes. Adjacent to the grotto will be the activity stage where the Emcee will play various games like Magical housie and Pin the nose on the reindeer and conduct Lucky draws. The atrium of the mall will be decorated with green lights, reindeers and chandeliers making it an exciting Christmas shopping destination.

Taking the theme of 'Green Christmas Magic' one step further, Oberoi Mall will persuade customers to contribute innovative Green messages on the message board. The most innovative message will be awarded a Santa's home visit with lot of goodies on 25th of December 2009

The Mall has undertaken an initiative, 'Build a home, Brick by Brick' from 18th - 20th December, 2009 in support of the cause of providing less privileged people with an ideal home. This event is in association with Habitat for Humanity India, an NGO helping in developing communities for individuals who are in need, by building and renovating houses and thereby providing them with decent accommodation facilities. Customers will be invited to participate and lend their support by purchasing a part of a miniature model house (Brick, window, door, roof tile etc), for a nominal amount and building it to completion. All proceeds will be donated to a designated fund for erecting a dream home for one special less privileged family.

Apart from games and activities for children, parents will also be able to take part in the Christmas celebrations by giving tagged gifts for their children to Santa Claus, who would receive them at the Mall on Christmas Day. This activity will encourage parents to purchase a gift for their children and see the joy on their faces while receiving those gifts from Santa Claus.

Over the weekend, children will be able to enjoy Puppet shows and Magic shows with themes revolving around Christmas apart from daily activities like Caricature, Glitter tattoo and Nail art.

There is another surprise planned by the Mall for their customers. Between the 17th to the 31st of December, customers making purchases at the Mall will have to fill out a form for a surprise gift by Santa Claus himself. Lucky customers will be picked out from the daily draw and Santa Claus and his team will pay them a surprise visit at their homes.

Customers shopping for Rs. 2010 or above will be given a chance to get lucky everyday. Apart from availing free parking for the day, they will be eligible for entering the Grotto. The game will begin when the promoter opens the door of the Grotto which will remain open for 10 seconds only (per person). Customers will have to search for their lucky ticket within that time which will be redeemable for loads of gifts. They can then collect their gifts against the lucky dip from the Registration counter. All the shoppers are also entitled for a mega lucky draw on the 3rd of January and five lucky winner will be presented with a Diamond jewelry set worth Rs 1,00,000 each.

"Christmas is a celebration of peace and harmony. Keeping this is mind; our goal at Oberoi Mall was to create a fun, unique and colorful environment where everyone could experience and imbibe the spirit of this joyous occasion" added Philips
