Amazon Introduces Junglee.com in India
India, February 23rd, 2012: Online retail giant Amazon.com has entered India which is the third largest e-commerce market right after US and China, with the launch of its innovative comparison shopping service branded as Junglee.com.
India has more than 100 million internet users and online shopping has been growing rapidly. Junglee.com will serve as a single starting point for these vast online shoppers where they can find and discover products, and compare prices before ordering out of 12 million products from 14,000 plus Indian and global brands.
The shopping website will provide a platform to Indian sellers to list and showcase their products and services and also generate traffic. This unique service will indirectly provide some kind of a level playing field to many smaller online shopping sites who can't spend heavily on advertisements. Currently the service is completely free but it remains to be seen how Junglee.com charges the sellers in future.
Currently the site has more than 25 product categories, including mobile phones, cameras, toys and games, baby products, books, music, movies and TV, clothing, and jewellery.
