A blog is a personal online diary maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary and description of events.

The term blog came from the word "web log" which was coined by John Barger in 1997. Peter Merhloz broke the word web log into the phrase "we blog" in 1999 and then the word became popular as both a noun and verb.

Everyday bloggers are writing about 200K posts around the world on various topics ranging from personal diaries to world polictics.

Blogging has become so popular in India that our Bollywood actors have also started unveiling their thoughts through their personal blogs.

Women'S Reservation The opposition to women's bill by the opposition stems from the fact that Men will become more and more rare species in parliamentary power. Huge presence of Women is most likely to bring down the numbers of goons, corrupt politicians, and spineless men joining politics. The transperancy factor which is now coming in the society is also going against Men.

An excuse for the opposition just for the sake of it. Let us examine them one by one :

1. Backward caste and tribes will be ignored by passage of women's bill
2. Minorities particularly muslims will affected badly
3. Men may not get enough representation in the Parliament
4. Top posts are likely to be snatched away in the ministry by Women
5. Suitable women candidates are not found for fighting elections.

Firstly it will pave way for intelligent women to represent their constituency. Does it sound dangerous for Parliamentary democracy. Even if a higher caste women joins the elite parliamentarians she has to work for the constituency otherwise she will be thrown out.

Secondly the excuse of Muslim women being affected is sheer bull. If their women folks are not allowed to participate in public activities, is the Women's reservation to be blamed ?

Thirdly the goons and corrupt politician will be eliminated from Parliament. Any good party would like to have a clean image.

Fourthly the fear of Top ministerial berth being snatched away by women is quite real. Can Men upgrade their skills and serve the constituency better.

Finally women candidates will not supply booze and other incentives to the electorate lest it will tarnish their image. Of course there are exceptions to the rule, if it comes to the survival of the fittest.

Now the stage has come for passage of Women's Bill, which was first initiated by Gowda, but he did not have the will power to ensure that the bill being passed and thereby loosing out an opportunity for being known for this single achievement during his tenure. Now our MANMOHAN Singh has his job cut out to ensure that he does not fail again.

It is so refreshing to witness a sane debate on the Women's bill in RS after the Marshalls have been called in and expelling 7 MPs who were disrupting the proceeding. The debate is live on the RS in which sanity is prevailing. After all in RS, which is supposed to be elite section who are chosen for the excellence in their field without directly facing the electrate. We expect better behaviour from Rajya Sabha MPs than disrupting the house and wasting the time and money of the nation.

BSP representative wanted 50% reservation instead of 33% which seems to be strange demand. Are they playing to the gallery is an issue. Nevertheless he stressed the point that backward caste should be considered for upliftment. They should be encouraged to participate in democratic set up. Of course he too praised his leader Mayawati.

Jayanti Natarajan was playing to the electrorate with stressing the fact that it is Congress govt which took the courage to table the bill. This women's bill was first tabled by Deve Gowda in 1996 is an historic fact. But he did not have the mandate with his minority government. The fact remains that in Manmohan Singh's regime this bill has taken an important step to moot the bill and ensure it sails through. When there is a mandate of the majority why not get it through ? She stressed the fact that Rajiv Gandhi gave women a status in her party. Obviously last but not least she acknowledged that her leader Soniaji is the brain behind this bill.

Arun Jaitley, had unequivocally extended his partys support to the passage of the bill. BJP has played its role as a constructive opposition. He has expressed his shock at the shameful behavior of the MPs who protested against tabling of the bill on Womens day.

Brinda Karat had stressed the fact that this Womens bill should be passed to ensure gender equality which is guaranteed in our constitution. She mentioned in Punjab 40% participation of women is prevalent in panchyats.

To watch history it is good, to be part of the history even better expressed the AIDMK MP which is a profound statement. He praised his leader Jayalalitha. Indian housewives are more prudent than the FM in managing the budget of the house, bought peels of laughter.

I am sure now the stage is set for passage of Women's Reservation bill in representation in Parliament smoothly i mean the Lok Sabha too. So the history is in the making, never mind it was not passed on the Women's Day.
