Mamata makes a Swiss Transaction with Ramakrishna Mission to balance Imam Deal

Mamata makes a Swiss Transaction with Ramakrishna Mission to balance Imam Deal Mamata Banerjee in a bid to secure Muslim votes in the upcoming panchayat elections went ahead suo muto to strike a historic Imam Deal a few days ago in Kolkata.

In the tradition of Maa, Maati and Manush government, Miss Banerjee dramatically announced that the state will be providing a monthly stipend of Rs 2,500 for 30,000 Imams in Bengal and assorted other facilities like housing schemes and funds for education of their children.

But alas, the Islamists are not feeling gratified after this unprecedented gesture of a secular state and as per reports within hours after the announcement, Shahi Imam of Tipu Sultan Masjid, when asked of the annunciation, stated categorically, "We were expecting that the remuneration of imams to be around Rs 20,000. Since the CM has sougt our feedback, we will request her to raise it to Rs 10,000 at least."

Abdul Qayyum Biswas, a rough-cut imam from North 24-Parganas, said, "What can Rs 2,500 fetch? We were promised the moon and then asked to be happy with a paltry sum," Maulana Tausiqui Hussain was found to mention an earlier assurance made by Trinamool minister Mukul Roy. "At a meeting in Haj House, he had promised that the remuneration would be to the tune of Rs 20,000, this announcement has come as a disappointment to us."

What Mamata can do now is to be seen very curiously as the unnecessary generosity may quite boomerang and the Muslim dissatisfaction can only grow. The politics of appeasement is like playing with fire and her government has to answer serious questions as why clergymen of other religion will not be also given stipend from government unless she declares West Bengal as the country's first Islamic state.

This may happen sometime later as the end game strategy but in the meantime, Miss Banerjee has embraced Islam 99% as per my observation (just like she feels that she has done 99% of the work as promised in her manifesto) and she has also appealed to citizens of other faith to lead life in an Islamic way like fasting during ramzan etc.

Although she won because of the Muslim votes as Muslims did not vote for CPI(M) but somebody must have reminded her that she should not totally ignore the Hindus at this stage and that's why within 2 days of the historic Imam Deal, Mamata literally barged into Belur Math and made a swiss transaction with the Ramakrishna Mission order. She was photographed grinning with Ramakrishna Mission President Swami Atmasthananda and the latter holding a Lindt dark chocolate bar (containing 99% cocoa)!

A press release from the Ramakrishna Mission revealed that Mamata Banerjee promised a 1 Crore donation to the order for renovation and development. The Imam Deal stands counterbalanced by the Swiss transaction.

Very fascinating that Didi is gifting Swiss chocolates to swamiji, she should have presented him "muri and batasha"!

Blackrose wrote on 09 April, 2012

CB@ Mamata is making herself a rediculous figure. Yesterday's Bengali Statesman had also criticized Mamta for her muslim appeasement. God knows what she is heading for. Does she think that only Muslim vote would ensure her a majority in any election? I donot blaim her for this. She had started her political career at Congress, which is famous for Muslim appeasement. Though Mamta has changed the colour of her flag, still the suffic " Congress" is with her.She is encouraging the madrasas to flurish. We have seen alrady that the border districts of West Bengal are flooded with Madrasas, only god knows what are their activities. Mumta for sake of her political interst is throwing people of West Bengal towards a dangerous future. From these Muderasas if massive conversion drive is taken in future as they are aided by funds from the middle east then this would lead to a situation which might go beyond control.

Khair wrote on 14 April, 2012

@BLACKROSE your xenophobia has assumed ludicrous proportions as you seek to discover madrasahs at every nook and corner; but tell me this! how could you miss the madrasah that is under your bed?

Khair wrote on 14 April, 2012

@FULLMARX, it is not a new game. You should know because for years Muslim voters in West Bengal (particularly in the city areas) were voting en masse for the CPM. Now when Mamata is playing better at the game you suddenly discover Islamists in the same voters who were filling up your ballot boxes not that long ago. Isn't it ironical and a touch hypocritical on your part?

FullMarx wrote on 14 April, 2012

@ Khair, even an insane person will not question the secular credentials of communist party of India and I challenge you to cite a single example of minority appeasement by CPIM. CPIM genuinely looked after the interests of poor and minorities and it is "Mamata Khatoon" who is playing a dirty game. Have you ever seen Comrade Jyoti Basu, Budhdhadev Bhattacharjee or Abdul Rejjak Mollah wear a skull cap? Why does not Mamata Benrjee become Mamata Khatoon than doing this drama of covering her head with a cloth and appealing people to keep roja.

FullMarx wrote on 14 April, 2012

@ Khaiar... "madrasa under blackrose's bed"????

FullMarx wrote on 14 April, 2012

She is making a mockery of Muslims with her behavior. does she think that Muslims are fools and just covering her head will make them happy? She will be decimated in the next assembly election and very soon you will see cracks in TMC party.

Khair wrote on 15 April, 2012

@FULLMARX, I wasn't talking about CPM's secular credentials nor the TMC's. Nor was I talking about the so-called "appeasement" of Muslims; this is a term being brandished by both sides to score political points, and the extreme right-wing communal elements are joining in the fray too. In truth both the CPM and TMC would like votes in a bundle, that is the nature of the game. So they all try to play the game of appealing to different population groups to shore up their vote bank, whether it be Muslims, Dalits, farmers, workers, non-Bengalis, and other population groups. For long, CPM used to benefit from Muslim votes particularly in the city areas. TMC seems to have broken that monopoly (I am not suggesting that is good or bad) with significant number of Muslims voting for TMC last time. My point was, it is a bit naive of CPM to cry foul now when they lost the game.

Khair wrote on 15 April, 2012

@FULLMARX, there used to be a time when they used to discover communists under every bed. Now they find Muslims/Islamists and their madrasahs under the beds. I was making a point against the xenophobic nature of some people. The truth is life will go on despite the communists, the Muslims, the saints, the bigots, the racists, the Greens, the proletariat, the reactionaries, the sadhus, the shaitans, etc; and perhaps one day we will be looking under the beds for something entirely different.

Khair wrote on 15 April, 2012

@FULLMARX, only time will tell who will be decimated in the next elections, but the sky will not fall if the Left comes back to power. However, it may be a long way off if they don't learn from their past mistakes.

Blackrose wrote on 18 April, 2012

Khair@ Your statement is correct, because both Muslims and communists have some traints in common. Both of them agressively try to control, dominate ( if they are in power), propagate their ideologies.
They donot mind to use power and brutal forces to dominate the oppositions. If we review the world history, then we would find that in every communist dominated countries there were oppressions, non communists were tortured, fundamental rights were robbed, excessive state control on private affairs were exercised.Common people became so frustrated that they had thrown out the rulers whenever they got chances. And in every Islam rules countries there are rampant violences, Minorities are tortured, attacked in planned manners. The world have witnessed 9/11,there is regular blood bath in Afganistan, pakistan, Iraq, .The madrasas are Moulavi manufacturing factories, where lessons of The Koran and hadish are tought. The students are tought that non believers of Allha are enemies, Kafirs.

Jam_Ali wrote on 18 April, 2012

BR, is it not better to be aggressive than behave meek and cowardly like your Hindus who were under 500 hundreds years of foreign rule. The Rajputs even offered their sisters to Mughals for buying peace, what a shame! Do you consider India also a Muslim country? There is violence everyday in every state of India.what about the gun violence on innocent school kids in US? Stop the hatred and do some soul searching.

Jam_Ali wrote on 18 April, 2012

Mamata is mimicking Islam for political gain and she should be given a stern warning by Mulsim religious leaders. Muslims don't vote simply because one pretends to be a Muslim, there is no concept of celebrity status in Islam, it is not like Hindu temples where you get a prime seat if you are a film star or a politician, everyone is same inside a mosque. So who cares if she keeps Roja, she is not a Muslim she is doing double dealing and Muslims should actually consider her as a dangerous person.

cosmicbomber wrote on 18 April, 2012

Jam, appreciate your candid views but are the Imams going to reject the stipend offered by Mamata Banerjee?

Blackrose wrote on 18 April, 2012

Jam@ Violence is not within the system of Hindusism unlike other religions. That is the point. You had shown the Examples of Rajputs, but there were kings like Shivaji also who had taught the Mughols their life times lessons.Yes there are violences in every state of India but the sum total( sigma) of the total number of deaths in a year would be nowhere near the number of people getting killed in every single instances in Iraq, Pakistan, Afganistan. Islamic over agresion is now paying heavy prices in Islam ruled countries in particular and the entire world in general.

Blackrose wrote on 18 April, 2012

jam@ I had seen photographs of some Imams present on that day who were expresing their gratitude to Mamata for doing such favour to them. Even some Moulavis also from the dias invited fellow muslims to cast their vote in favour of Mamata in the coming Panchayet election. I donot think that the greedy moulavis would reject Mamata's offer of Rs 2500/- per month plus other facilities. All the political parties use Muslim vote bank as ping pong ball and they are not sincere enough to help them contributing seriously to build up a strong India.

Jam_Ali wrote on 19 April, 2012

@ BR, who is forbidding you to contact the said Imams and take their answers? Why are you spreading venom against a religion in this forum? You should be deeply ashamed of your behavior. Try to write something good if you have in your religion that attacking other religions and members.

My apologies for not being able to continue participating for a while as I was busy with some matters in Shonar Bangla and celebrating Nobo Borsho (Bengali New Year) there. Actually all my posts here were sent while there. However, it looks like I didn't miss much. As usual, BLACKROSE has found some cue to propagate his bigotry and hatred against Muslims and JAM ALI has taken up the same role against the Hindus.

In truth both the Hindu and Muslim communities would be hanging their heads in shame for such bigoted people trying to represent their faiths by throwing mud on the other.

In the meantime, I await FULLMARX's response to my comments on CPM and TMC.

Khair wrote on 23 April, 2012

@COSMICBOMBER, it would be interesting to know from which fund Mamata intends to pay these stipends. I can foresee a lot of complications in implementing such a measure. For instance, what if another mosque is built up with appointing another Imam. Does it means they would require the endorsement of Mamata or a govt. department to be eligible for the stipend? What if a mosque appoints two imams? Will both of them be entitled to stipends? What about the padre in the church? Will he be entitled to a stipend? If not, the question is why not? While prudence suggests we reserve final judgement on this until the whole thing is clear, I must say it does smell like an attempt to make inroads into some traditional CPM support base.

Blackrose wrote on 25 April, 2012

Whatever be the source of fund, it would ultimately come from the tax payers' pocket. Dr Surya kanta Mishra, opposition leader has rightly said that Mamata is famous for making promises which are never kept. Hence this one is also another sample. I donot think that Mamata is at all interested to improve the living conditions of the Muslims. They should be encouraged to attain conventional schools( not Madrasas) and should be given more responsibilities in the nation building exercise.

Blackrose wrote on 25 April, 2012

Is Khair in his remark dated 22/4 suggesting a mass suicide? That is Muslims and Hindus should hang them by neck? Mr Khair is a dangerous man. That means only Christians would survive!!!!And Banu's POPE bhiya would rule!!!

Jam_Ali wrote on 25 April, 2012

Brother Khair I am deeply pained to see an educated brother of my faith to be so much prejudiced because I challenged him on the tenets of the holiest religion in the universe. so whatever I write appears to be bigoted. If you read again brother, I have appealed to black rose to refrain from attacking other religions and concentrate on the good subjects of Hinduism and received blessing of Allah but you are outright attacking me for words that I have not spoken. It is a tragedy and I blame the viceful intoxicated environment on Australia and not you for your irrational utterances.

Khair wrote on 26 April, 2012

@JAM ALI, at least try to be honest and truthful. You bigotry is even worse than BLACKROSE's because he does not hide the fact that he is a bigot. You, on the other hand, are lying with a straight face. Proof of your lies - that you did indeed attack another religion: scroll up half-way through the page and look again what you have written about Hindu temples; go further up and look again at what you said about Rajputs offering their sisters to Mughals for peace. Do you still say that I am attacking you "for words you have not spoken"?

"... So shun the abomination of idols, and shun lying speech " (Holy Quran 22:30)

"Confound not truth with falsehood, nor knowingly conceal the truth." (Holy Quran 2:42)

"... So shun the abomination of idols, and shun lying speech " (Holy Quran 22:30)

"Confound not truth with falsehood, nor knowingly conceal the truth." (Holy Quran 2:42)

“O you who believe! Fear Allah, and be with those who are true (in words and deeds).” (Holy Quran 9:11

Khair wrote on 26 April, 2012

@JAM ALI, as for "viceful intoxicated environment" I am not sure that Australia is ahead of India in this respect. How would you measure it anyway?

You must be suffering from some complex or ignorance (jahilliyah) which is even worse. You and BLACKROSE have one more thing in common: both of you cannot engage in a discussion or argument without bringing the other person's identity into it. Since you have so much in common why don't you try to live together and find peace?

Blackrose wrote on 27 April, 2012

Khair@ If Jam were a lady and I were a bachelor then definitely I would have loved to go for a live together!!! LOL

Khair wrote on 27 April, 2012

@BLACKROSE, you are not a bachelor? I was inclined to assume you are a college student, but I had only your writings to judge from. Ah well! can't get it right every time. Maybe JAM ALI is a married person too.

Blackrose wrote on 04 May, 2012

Khair@ Why don't you apply for the post of a judge at the International court of justice? I must appreciate sharpnes of your judgement!!!

Holy Cow!!! Cascading Kudos to Khair in anticipation.
