On the day of two land mark judgement by Indian courts, one can say that there is still a ray of hope at the end of the black tunnel of corruption for ordinary Indians.
Veteran Congress leader N D Tiwari failed to get any relief in the paternity suit filed against him, as the Supreme Court asked him today to give his blood sample by May 29 for DNA test. Tiwari was trying to block this for over 4 years by now will finally have to follow the court orders unless he brings another twist by using Congress party's power. Also on the same day, a Ghaziabad court ordered the trial of Rajesh Talwar and his wife Nupur for the murder of their 14-year-old daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj. Judiciary is the only institution that ordinary Indians can rely upon although the political parties are working overtime to make the judicial process complicated and not yielding quick result. However, it is commendable that our judges have not let us down like other educated professionals and politicians who are just interested to maximize personal income and have scant regards for any rule, respect for law, morality and even humanity. It is very disturbing to know how crucial evidences were destroyed in Aarushi murder case and top lawyers of the country are claiming to work fro free for the dentist couple. None of these lawyers were seen anywhere when the Noida police inquiry tried its best to implicate the other two domestic help in the murder but were later freed by the court. The CBI had claimed the Talwars' maid, the guard and driver corroborate their "last scene theory" according to which there were four people living in the house and there was no sign of a fifth person's entry at the time of the murders. The CBI counsel had said, "Four people were there, two died and two were left. When a murder takes place in a closed house and two are dead, then the onus shifts on those who are alive." The CBI had also claimed that Aarushi and Hemraj's injuries were identical. "The golf stick recovered from the house matches the injury. The Talwars refused to identify Hemraj's body and gave false information regarding the crime scene," the CBI counsel said. It is hoped that this heinous murder will be finally cracked and no benefit of doubt should be given to this couple who are using their money power to evade justice so far. Hope -- Hope in the face of difficulty. Hope in the face of uncertainty. The audacity of hope! In the end, that is God’s greatest gift to us, the bedrock of this nation. A belief in things not seen. A belief that there are better days ahead.
(BARACK OBAMA, speech, 2004 DNC Convention)
