India's Next President: India's Next President

With each passing day, India's Presidential election is turning out to be a political farce. The focus has been more on promoting 'our man' by various political parties instead of reaching a national consensus on the fittest incumbent for the prestigious position. There is very little time left to decide the Presidential candidates but the election situation is getting more and more complicated. Each party has got their own stands for the elections.

Trinamool Congress and Samajwadi Party had expressed their choice of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, former Lok Sabha speaker Somnath Chatterjee and former president A.P.J. Abdul Kalam as the most eligible presidential candidates. Congress stands firm on their decision on union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Hamid Ansari as their party's preference for the president post.

All political parties should arrive on a conclusion for the presidential poll because the post of president is very prestigious but unfortunately Politicians have made a joke of it. When the Politicians are playing & enjoying the dirty political games, bookies / Punters are not lacking behind, they are taking the advantage of the uncertain situation & are betting big on that who will be the new President of India. Further there has been no cricket for some time now and there is nothing much interesting happening either in the country. This presidential election has been the most uncertain and has created much excitement among people.

According to the reliable source, Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee is the punters' choice to be the next president as Rs 800 crore is riding on the unfolding high-voltage political drama. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is a distant second in the punters' list, while Vice-president Hamid Ansari and ex-Speaker Somnath Chatterjee are virtually out of the race.

With huge money involved are we going to see scandals like "President Fixing" in line with match-fixing?

Mamata Banerjee has dared to lock horns with Sonia Gandhi and it is interesting to see how Sonia and Congress party deals with Mamata. Mamata and Mulayam has ridiculed Congress, Sonia and Manmohan by naming Manmohan Singh as one of their presidential candidates, it is a direct insult to Dr. Singh and UPA 2. If Congress has any self respect left, they should teach Mamta a lesson.

Either the president should be abolished or an enlightened, wise person by and large above petty politics should occupy the office. It was a great insult to name Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi should have personally given a statement against this outrageous act but she chose not to... well both the offices of president and prime minster of India has been tarnished and ridiculed by seem unscrupulous, power hungry and corrupt politicians of this country.

If people of India were to vote, A. P. J. Kalam would have won with a land slide margin, none others who are in the fray or whose names have been proposed will stand any chance. Can anyone dispute this?

Bengalis are proud to see Pranab Mukherjee emerging as a consensus candidate for President, he is the man who coined the slogan "Only VIMAL" and I personally salute him!
