How to get Rain ? Learn from Karnataka Politcians How to get Rain ? Learn from Karnataka Politcians

It was shocking to know that the BJP government in Karnataka has set aside Rs 17.5 crore to be spent on prayers to invoke the gods to bless the state with rain, and counter the state's worst drought in 42 years, which has led to a scarcity of drinking water. Yesterday the muzrai (religious endowment) department issued a circular to its 35,000 temples across the state to hold special pujas to propitiate the Rain Gods.

Muzrai minister Kota Srinivas Poojary has sanctioned a maximum of Rs. 5,000 for each temple. This will amount to not less than Rs.17 crore. Temples in the A, B and C categories are expected to conduct the rituals on July 27 and August 2. The circular makes a particular mention of such prominent temples as Kollur Mookambika, Kukke Subrahmanya Swamy, Kateelu Durgaparmeshwari and Nanjangud Srikantheswara Swamy.

The Muzrai Minister Mr Kota Srinivas Poojary is following in the footsteps of his predecessors, Es En Krissnaiah Setty and VS Acharya. As muzrai minister in 2008-09, Setty had ordered daily puja, distribution of Tirupati laddus and Ganga jal in all government temples for the welfare of the BJP government and former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa.

I think the State government just doesn't seem to realize the gravity of the state's worst drought in 42 years. Instead of deploying every available resource to tackle the situation on the ground, one of its executive decisions is to sanction money for prayers in all temples across the state.

There is nothing wrong in praying God for rains, but why money is involved. Why Government should spend tax payers money on this? If the ministers are so concerned about the common people they can spend their personal money on pujas.

Can't the money be spent in more judicious ways? The amount, if used for development, could have made a big difference to the lives of people. The government can also use the money practically by educating the people on water harvesting and helping them in various ways to sustain their living.

What the state government is doing in Karnataka is against the Secular norms. Instead of prayers the government; would have chosen the scientific methods like cloud seeding to get rain.

It is ridiculous that these people are indulging is such paganism rituals and wasting crores of tax payers money. India is a secular country and all these idiotic pujas should be stopped immediately.

Govt of India should not spend tax payer's money to subsedise haj pilgrimage. Why is my friend Jam absolutely silent on this? Some state governments also give funds to various Madrasas which are nothing but places to nurture terrorism.

In England once there was no rain. Then all churches instructed people to join for a mass prayer so that rain may fall. In one bright sunny morning the people started from their respective homes for the church. One little kid was found to carry an umbrella with him. Elders rediculed at him, because that was a bright and sunny morning and there was no chance of any rain. That kid smiled. They had finished their prayer, when they were comming out of the churches, suddenly torrential rain started. The little kid was the only person who was carrying an umbrella. He told others that he had complete faith on the purpuse of the prayer and he was absolutely confident that his prayer would be answered that is why he was carrying an umbrella.

If "barun jagya" is properly performed then this might bring rain also. Every rituals of the hindus are highly scientific and these finer things are very difficult for a muslim like Jam Ali to digest. I must appreciate the BJP government for keeping faith on our ancient, vaidic rituals and processes. If we can go back to our roots then only we may save ourselves. Muuslims and Christians had intruded into india, due to vastness of Hindusism they could managed to accomodate muslims and christians in India and the believers of these two religions could stay in India, enjoy all benifits and whenever in trouble then take shelter behind the term" secular India". In order to take advantages they are prepared to go against their holy books also.

Rajiv Gandhi had once made a very judicial remark that only small amount of the Govt money go to the people, the remaining amount simply gets lost midway. IF some money is properly spent for pujas then it is good for the country rather that allowing this to get robbed by corroupted politicians before it reach the common people.
