The Baltic Dry Index is an index covering dry bulk shipping rates and managed by the Baltic Exchange in London.
Most directly, the index measures the demand for shipping capacity versus the supply of dry bulk carriers. However, since the demand for shipping varies with the amount of cargo that is being traded in the market (supply and demand) and the supply of ships is much less elastic than the demand for them, the index indirectly measures global supply and demand for the commodities shipped aboard dry bulk carriers, such as cement, coal, iron ore, and grain.

Because dry bulk primarily consists of materials that function as raw material inputs to the production of intermediate or finished goods, such as concrete, electricity, steel, and food, the index is also seen as a good economic indicator of future economic growth and production, termed a leading economic indicator because it predicts future economic activity.

Currently, the BDI stands at just over 1,600 coming down from a high just shy of 12,000 in June of this year. That is a drop more then 85%, meaning that shipping has come to an almost complete standstill, and with it the entire global economy ...

So how does this affect us?

It doesnt, the plethora of news media, specifically a/v in order to raise their stupi TRPs' are trying to tell us us indians are in a recession.

We are not.

Do Armani suits, suit our national mode/method of dress? its for the urban climate-controlled idiots who have to wear them. For the ordinary Indian, its plain cotton and for the males, just a dhoti or a pyjama. And for the Indian stri, its a saree which covers her bosom too.

Dont shrivel your damned noses. We are the land of the Kamasutra and if you look at the pictures, safe sexx and most importantly enjoyable sex was advocated. One has to read the book, in order to reach a dimension that today's condom using kiddos leave behind, ina an instant's ejaculate.

We have to consume what is produced by our people to keep the money inside our system. And just like our way of trading with the Russians[ in rupees, not dollars], we as a nation should put our pride in the Rupee, rather than some idiot nation's currency. Let them pay for their follies.

Why should we? Consider this, 5% of the world's population that are Americans consume 25% of goods

Dont you think its time they got their come-uppance? Why should we slave for them? Why should the dollar be the denominated currency of international trade when its not backed by gold and is not worth the paper its printed on?

Our Rupee is stronger. lets make it more stronger.
