Can you imagine what will happen if somebody conducts a reality show (anywhere in the world) where someone dresses as Aisha, Prophet's wife and she dances in a vulgar way? I don't need to tell you as every one knows there will be bloodbath everywhere and thousands of holy warriors will march for killing the people behind the show and the actors who performed.
But in our country which has the largest followers of Hinduism in the world, there is not even a single voice raised except by VHP in response to the event organized by Colors TV. It is so shameful that Sita, wife of Lord Rama, who is worshiped by millions of Hindus have been depicted as a seductress and was found to be dancing in a vulgar way with Ravana to the tune of Hindi film music and no one in the country has spoken a single word against it. If our nation decides to be so much extra liberal and indifferent to such acts of blasphemy then it should have uniform stand for all such acts irrespective of religion. We are always found to be liberal when it comes to Hinduism and Gods and Goddesses of Hindus but when it comes to Islam we become more fierce than the Wahhabis, more intolerant than Talibans. It is more shameful and insulting that in that show a Pakistani Muslim was giggling and thoroughly enjoying the vamp like dance of Mona Singh who was playing Sita and Harbhajan Singh who was performing the Ravana. I would request everyone to see the clippings and then you will be sanguine that the only intent of the producer of Color TV was to insult Sita and make mockery of Hindus and hurt the sentiments of millions of Hindu. Nowhere in the world, even in the liberal democracies like US, Germany or France, this kind of blasphemy is allowed but it happens only in India and we spineless, coward Hindus who were enslaved for thousands of years are still afraid to speak up against the offenders. I think time has come to give ultimatum to government to act and take stringent legal actions against Colors TV, the actors, the judges of the show and the people who were present at that time and encouraging the performers. If it cannot do that then let it declare that anybody can make mockery of any religion in India and India shall tolerate all acts of blasphemy and deem them as entertainment or acts of art. Then we need not see only the dances of Sita or nude painting of Goddess Saraswati, we will get a lot of variety and let us all enjoy them. Comments (6) spirited wrote on 10 October, 2008
Holy Cow! I think Colors went too far! This is definitely not acceptable and not in good taste, you cannot insult a faith in the name if artistic freedom, and this event was actually very vulgar, in headlines today I saw the clippings, bhaji was looking like clown, mona like a vamp and wasim akram was definitely behaving very irresponsibly and he should be first kicked out of India after a dressing down.

Kudos for writing this blog and expressing the thoughts and outrage that crores of Hindus have in this country under Italian rule! I think the backbone of Hindus have been broken after years of subjugation and they can only be in the receiving end. I am also surprised at the unholy silence of Admanycs who spend thousand of words and countless accolades on blogs written by some well known blabbermouths, but they have just gone silent after your blog!!!
Have balls fellow countrymen, I am not saying to disrespect others religion but you should not also tolerate when someone disrespects your religion. talk2ankanjim wrote on 10 October, 2008
1st, I think every one has the freedom of speech. So do u Mr Harihar. And it's again ones own choice whether he/she wants to comment for or discuss about a topic or not. All these years of human existance, Religion has brought nothing but sorrows to the communities. There could have been only one religion.. "Religion of Humans". Which, I don't believe we follow. Being a Hindu, it's little sad from my part that I don't even know the names of 33crore Gods and Godesses. I don't know 200 crore stories related to Hinduism. I don't have the "Brahma Gyan". The knowledge oh 'Hindutwa'. I guess, we should first put our interests in learning than in a contentious speech act.

First of all, I am amazed that people actually have the time and patience to watch such crappy imitation/repackaging of Hollywood's "Dancing with the Stars". Neither the performers nor the judges have any knowledge about Dance! When the TRP's went low, the producers decide to create a controversy with the Bhajji-Jassi act. And what amazes me more is that we fall for such lame gimmicks and allow our religious sentiment to be hurt!!! I have never seen any "well known blabber mouth" in Admanya, each one reflects intellect in his/her own way. Besides, I don't think any admanyac is silent about this so called "ISSUE" rather they merely not intrigued by its mention! Mr. Harihar, everyone has a choice of the topic they want to comment on and let them practice the same.
Finally admanya is an unbiased consumer forum, lets not make it a place for public bully or provocation of any sort!! God bless us all!! spirited wrote on 10 October, 2008
Holy Cow! 33 crore Gods and Goddesses, talk2ankanjim, I think this is just a figurative statement and you need not believe it. Actually, we don't have so many actually, may be a few hundreds, and many of then are called by different names. creativecerebru, I think Mr R P Singh has just tried to make that point that how long we can ignore insult to our religion by pretending that we are tolerant, secular, liberal or the incident is insignificant, that is precisely the "cowardly silence"; what he tried to portray as far as I understood him by reading the blog a few times!

Mr Spirited, try reading the vedas and puranas... they talk about "33 Crore" Gods n Godesses... and i totally agree with Creative. It seems that Harihar is judging the members of Admanya by stating the word "Blabbermouth". One should respect the other fellow human being before everything. Even before "Religion". Because religion is a creation of Human Beings.
