Biased Indian press now starts praising Modi as Modi Mania grips India

It is really interesting to see that most of the English news channel (and notably CNN IBN) which were very much vocal against Narendra Modi before the Gujrat election have now started praising him after the landslide win.

I think the English media is a bit nervous at the prospect of growing influence of Narendra Modi and specially when lots of commentators and sections of public are trying to see him as the future prime minister of India. CNN IBN lead by Rajdeep Sardesai and his run away team from NDTV has been always showing a wrong, maligned and insulting picture of Narendra Modi and was actually acting as the beneficiary for the Congress party.

Even when it was clear that Modi is coming back with huge margin they started to suggest that Modi's win would be a sort of defeat for the BJP. But Modi is a much smarter and seasoned politician and he has handled the situation after his historical win in such a way that the same CNN IBN is now forced to heap praise on the man. Suddenly, CNN IBN has forgotten Godhra and the so called "pogrom" although they never care about the planned killings of kar sevaks which started the violence.

I want to ask one question to Mr Sardesai. When the BJP wins, you say it's a victory of Modi. But at the same time why don't you portray the Congress's loss as Sonia Gandhi's or Rahul's defeat? I think it is not only our election commission but also CNN IBN has double standard for "Italian Beti".

It is very clear that our press and specially the TV news channels like CNN IBN and others should be called news dealers or news brokers. They will broadcast news which serves the purpose of some social sections or some particular political parties and they act in their interest. You can't expect any neutrality or ethical behavior from them. They believe in making money and the entire organization runs on pure business interests. If you visit the CNN IBN website one will get appalled at the ugly display of advertisements. Yes, whatever it takes to make money.

My advice to common man, don't trust our news medium, they are serving someone's interest and surely not of common man's.

I am not sure whether this blog does help consumers in any way. But it is true that the English press is now forced to soft pedal the Modi issue. He is no longer a bad man rather a man of many virtues. The CNN IBN is one of the most biased TV news channel and I am sure that they take money and other considerations from political parties and businesses for their partisan news broadcast.

Wonder why no one else has commented. You are bang-on in your analysis of the Mainstream Media [MSM]. They are just paid hoes.

While we are at this topic, i'd like to bring up a couple of other news which soared media frenzy and then were blown away without a trace...
1. Nithari Killings.... Verdict
2.Jessica lal .. case reopening... was done with a big bang, but the verdict and the conviction had only luke warm attention from media.
3. Scarlet murder scam in Anjuma beach... whatever happened???
4. And the very recent Arushi Murder case.... the weird conclusion under the watchful eye of media.

Anyway, If people like Pranoy Roy start creating channels like NDTV imagine, very less is left to wonder who are the real gate keepers of Indian Media...

Creative, you can watch times now and actually Arnav Goswami is doing quite well, at least he is not overtly partisan and asks a lot of uncomfortable questions of national interest to the politicians and guests, where as on the other hand CNN IBN is working overtime to bash saffron party and promote the separatists of Kashmir.

This is ridiculous, Indian is becoming extra liberal when it comes to issues of minority community, yesterday G Parthasarathy made one very valid point, he said that Punjab terrorism could have never been contained if the electronic media would have given the coverage of Babbar Khalsa as they are now covering Hurriyat! It is time to realize that we are at war and we have to crush this evil with iron hand.

It was ironically funny. Let me tell you an incident. I had attended on of Arnab Goswami's speeches in Bangalore organised by Students of COMMETS. As a matter of fact he was explainig why Shilpa Shetty's racial issues was worthy of a headline; the very fact that tabloid sells.A lady suddenly got up and asked, Arnab, I see you asking questions , infact a lot of uncomfortable ones to politicians, business tycoons, defence general, but I remember one episode in particular where you were interviewing Sushmita Sen and there were more pleasantaries than hard hitting questions. And Sushmite keept on saying Oh! My! what a wonderful man he is. Do you have anything to say on this? "

his prompt reply was "I'll talk 2 you about this later". Well even Karan Thappar and Vikram Chandra lashes out people but its sesm like the moment it's a wrap, they juts sahek hands and do nothing visible about the same issues

Media is one of the pillars of democracy. Well to an extent there are vested interests which is potrayed beautifully in the movie Page 3 but the fact remains, that our Media is still a free bird. It only needs grit and consistency. It happens sometimes the same media which was criticising Shivraj Patil for changing his dress three times should apoligise to the HM since his mouth was tied to reveal the investigation process. The terror was handled with shoot at site orders. So if we criticise unnecessarily we have to be prepared to eat our own words. I still feel Media is free from malice and prejudice.

Media is always like that ; they follow the general direction of public mood.

Also their content is localized, in mumbai they take are almost symphathetic Raj Thakerays latest antics in Mumbai but in Delhi and elsewhere they are rather too critical of him. This is simply writing without character.

Again there are businesses like real-estate that pay money to get supportive articles. Even when real estste is crashing here in bangalore Times of India comes up with glowing articles on investment value in real estate and comes up with statistics that show growth in rents. Big builders are having difficulty in selling their multicrore villas, and today there is an article on villas where they fetch rents as high 10L/pm.

Holy Cow!! Francis, even I have read what you have just said, there are no buyers for flats and construction has almost stopped at all big sites (like Brigade, Prestige, Shobha etc.) but TOI is regularly carrying our articles and content about the big demand, best value and so on which is not only shameful but CRIMINAL. They are just misguiding public and in other words baiting them to put their hard earned money on real estate at an extremely bad time. They have tied up with semi crook companies like Frontline Builders and Orange Properties and spamming all over about some bogus properties, they just want to extract money out of you in this bad time and BEWARE. Cascading Kudus to Francis for bringing this topic.
